Speaking at Huda Beauty’s August Masterclass

When I founded Colour Conviction, my mission was simple: to help people feel more confident, authentic, and empowered through the power of personalized color. I never imagined that journey would lead me to the incredible honor of being invited by Huda Beauty—a true global beauty icon—to speak at their August Masterclass.

Yes, that Huda Beauty.

In a room full of insanely talented makeup artists and creatives, I had the opportunity to do what I love most: talk all things color theory.

Overtone vs. Undertone: The Truth Behind the Tone

For my session, I focused on one of the most misunderstood aspects of colour analysis—overtone vs. undertone—and how mastering the difference is key to accurately placing someone in a warm or cool category.

Often, someone might appear warm because of their overtone (think rosiness, surface redness, or even a tan), but in reality, their undertone—the colour that consistently shines through no matter what—is what determines their most flattering shades. This nuance is essential in both makeup application and personal styling, yet it’s often overlooked.

Being mic’d up and presenting in such a respected space was surreal. But even better was watching the audience—the MUAs, the industry experts, the curious learners—engage, nod, and question everything they thought they knew about warm vs. cool tones.

Hands On Colour Play

To take the learning off the slides and into real life, I created custom colour drapes—warm and cool—for attendees to use on each other. The goal? To empower them to start seeing undertones clearly, without relying solely on guesswork or surface-level observation.

It was a beautiful moment of collaboration and curiosity. Watching makeup artists pair off, test the drapes, and truly see the impact of tone—how one set of colours drained someone while another made them glow—was nothing short of magic.

Grateful, Inspired, and So Energised

Being part of the Huda Beauty Masterclass wasn’t just a career highlight—it was a personal one. I’m beyond grateful for the invitation and for the chance to bring colour analysis into the world of beauty in such an impactful way.

If you’re a makeup artist, stylist, or simply someone who wants to understand your colours better, this is just the beginning. There’s so much more to explore—and I can’t wait to share more with you through Colour Conviction.
